Richard Nixon and His Importance to Environmental History.  Richard Nixon was immensely important to our modern perception of being environmentally conscious. While his tenure as president of the United States was short, he was one of the first presidents to truly prioritize the health of our planet. Richard Nixon made his intentions on getting the United States on track for environmental success clear from the start. Right after his inauguration Richard Nixon made the statement that "resources that are so important to any kind of society that we want for the future. I don’t think we have paid enough attention to this. . . . We are going to do a better job than we have done in the past." via Science History Institute . Protecting the Scotts Stick Insect

  Section   1: The Organism   I chose the Scotts stick insect (Caracusius Scotti) as my organism, it is a long insect with spines and multiple sets of legs. I found information about the Scotts stick insect from the IUCN red list . It is found in the island group of Seychelles. This island group contains many dense forests that are home to lots of interesting organisms. The Scotts stick insect is a primary consumer, eating lots of vegetation. From birds to other insects, various secondary consumers eat the Scotts stick insect. The Scotts stick insect has developed a set of spines that protrude from its body to help it blend into vegetation as well as defend itself. While much is unknown about population numbers for the Scotts stick insect, what is known is the Scotts stick insects’ numbers are dwindling. My Favorite Place to Spend Time, The Salem Willows

 I love the Salem willows, it is a park near the coast located in Salem, MA. The Willows were a very popular choice of my father to spend time during the summer. Many long days were spent relaxing on the beaches, or crab fishing off the pier. Another fun thing that I often did with my father at the Willows was go kayaking off the shore. We would paddle out half a mile at most and just enjoy being out on the ocean. Seeing other small boats drive past us, and looking at the occasional seal or seagull.
